AKATE is a gripping narrative that explores the complex reality of a Europe returnee who faces betrayal, the scourge of cultism, and the pain of family abandonment upon returning to Edo land. Told in English, Pidgin, and Edo language code switching and mixing, the film is enriched with ancestral proverbs and features iconic landmarks from the ancient Benin Kingdom. It aims to spark national dialogue on irregular migration and youth identity.
